When people think of gift giving they usually conjure up the many celebrating and joyful occasions of life but we give presents to our loved ones in the down times too.
We give presents so they know that we love them and that we are here for them during their time of sadness.
Gift giving during life’s lows can be a tricky process because you want to demonstrate your support and thoughtfulness without being too showy.
Knowing what to give a loved one who is lost in grief or sadness can be stressful for those around them.
It’s something Brizzie Baskets & Blooms help guide our clients through on a daily basis.
We assist people to pick appropriate gifts for all types of situations in life and help loved ones demonstrate thoughtfulness for those in their life who are going through a difficult time.
For the past five years Brizzie Baskets & Blooms has been helping Brisbane parents who have lost a baby through preparing non-branded and simple memory boxes.
We have a special quiet room at the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital (RBWH) called the Butterfly Room so these distraught women and men can make memories of their child and start the grieving process.
We make up very simple white boxes with a small neutral-coloured bear and donate them so these parents can take something home to remember their child.
RWBH midwife Deb Birthisel says the Butterfly Room and the memory boxes supplied by Brizzie Baskets & Blooms helped mums through the initial grief of losing their baby.
“The Butterfly Room is a special place where the families who have lost a baby can go,” she said.
“It’s where we create memories for them to take home.”
The memory book with hand and foot prints of the baby and photos of the baby go into the special boxes provided by Brizzie Baskets & Blooms.
“They don’t get to take their baby home but they are grateful to take these memories of their baby home.'
It’s up to the individuals what they decide they would like to put into their memory box.
At Brizzie Baskets & Blooms we like to assist our clients give helpful and appropriate gifts during difficult times.
